They say it’s never good to broadcast your travel plans on the internet, but I’m playing the odds with who’s reading this blog. *1* This weekend, we’re going to MTW’s global mission’s conference. It’s a chance for us to hear what MTW is up to around the world, to meet other missionaries, hopefully make some good contacts, and generally be encouraged while spending times with our peers. I think the best part will be that we get to spend some time with our team leader, Pete Mitchell, who’s back from France to attend the conference. We love Pete, he’s a great boss, and we’re really looking forward to it.
We’re also looking forward to being away from the kids for the weekend, something we haven’t done in quite awhile. My mom and sister have graciously volunteered *2* to watch them while we’re gone. It’s going to be a busy weekend, but there is still a strong possibility of getting…eight uninterrupted hours of sleep. Imagine that.
One of the most amazing things about what we’re doing is how we oscillate from doing next to nothing, to being ridiculously busy, and back again. I’ll have nothing on the schedule for days, and then four things for the same morning. I love to go out to this little church out in the country to preach. I get to do it, maybe, once a month at the most. But it never fails that if I agree to preach there that morning, someone will want to meet, or something will need my attention, that evening back in Charlotte.
Like I’m someone important.
So, we appreciate your prayers. For traveling mercies, for success in our endeavors, for all of that and more. Thank you!
*1* We are leaving our dog here. He’s all teeth and claws. Very dangerous. Thieves stay away.
*2* They volunteered. That’s how I remember it.
